Get Started

The Get Started page (Overview → Get Started in the admin, or dash.staty.io/admin/get-started ) is the fastest way to launch. It walks you from a fresh account to a live registration link in five steps, all on one page — no jumping between screens.

Guided setup currently supports basketball and pickleball. For other sports, build your structure from Structure and use the Create a League / Create a Tournament guides.

1. Build your league or tournament

Choose one of two starting points — both end in an editable review before anything is created:

Use a template — pick a ready-made setup for your sport (e.g. a rec league with skill-tier divisions, or a weekend tournament with Men’s / Women’s / Mixed contests).
Describe it — type a plain-language description (“a mixed-doubles tournament with 3.0, 3.5 and 4.0+ divisions, about 16 teams”) and AI turns it into a structure.

Then review and edit: the name, whether it’s a League/Season or a Tournament, the contests (for a tournament), and each division’s name, format, and capacity. Click Create it to build the tournament/season and its divisions.

Creating a structure here leaves the sample structure that was set up when you created your organization untouched — you can delete the sample later from Structure.

2. Open registration

Pick the competition you just built and set the max players per team, then Open registration. This creates a live registration in test mode, so you can try the whole flow — including payments — without connecting Stripe first.

3. Set a fee (optional)

Charge a registration fee per team or per player, and enter the amount. Leave it in Test mode to trial checkout with no real charges, or choose Real payments once you’re ready to collect money (this needs Stripe — see step 4). The fee is attached to the registration you just opened.

4. Connect Stripe

You only need Stripe to take real payments. Connect an account here and complete Stripe’s onboarding; you’ll be returned to the Get Started page. While you’re testing, you can skip this entirely. See Setup Payments for the full payments model (Staty is free + a 1% platform fee; Stripe’s processing fees are separate).

Copy your public registration link (https://<your-org>.staty.io/register/details/…) and send it to teams and players, or Preview it first. That’s it — you’re live.

The page remembers your progress: completed steps stay checked when you come back, and it reflects registrations, fees, and Stripe status you’ve already set up.
